The Year 7 & 8 Fabric Design students have been busy this term with Shibori dyeing! Shibori is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that uses indigo dye. Each student received white calico fabric and selected various folding, twisting or bunching methods to create distinctive, intricate patterns.

After dyeing, students applied the design process to plan and make their own unique tote bags with great success. Next term, the class will continue to develop their skills by designing and creating a cushion cover that reflects their individual identity, utilising applied design techniques. Watch this space for updates on what’s happening in Textiles Technology in Term 4!
