What is the school doing about AI?

AI is a fast-moving aspect of our world now and our school is actively reflecting on the place of AI in our environment.

The school is developing an AI policy that will be as timeless as possible in such an evolving field. We are actively engaged with the Catholic Church's messages, ensuring that our use of AI always honours the dignity of all individuals.

We are very cognisant that our students have not yet fully developed their ability to learn, and we are developing guidelines that discourage them from cognitively offloading their learning to AI. We want to educate them that this is not a long-term solution in order for them to develop to be the best version of themselves.

As teachers, we are designing learning and assessments to reduce the temptation to take a shortcut with their learning. We will be learning how to guide ourselves and our students to understand the limitations as well as the benefits of AI. We are investigating how AI may benefit some teaching and learning, whilst always ensuring that the human interaction remains the most important part of your child's learning.

The aim is to present ethical guidelines, being constructed at present. that fit the "Trinity Way" so that all teachers and students understand how and when to use AI. We will then be on a learning journey together, as student and teacher, as we navigate this fast-evolving aspect of education (and life).
