Our netball club is going from strength to strength

We have much to celebrate this year, including our first female Otago representative in seven years.
Our netball community has worked tirelessly for six years to formalise our club processes, encourage participation and build depth in our netball programme. We are very grateful to many parents in our community who help to coach, manage and fundraise each year. These parents have also been instrumental in developing our players' basic skills to the point that we now have four competitive senior netball teams, two of which are competing in the senior secondary premier section in 2026 for the first time.
We are lucky to have the assistant coach for the Southern Netball Blast and three-time champion University Albion club to coach our senior A team- Jill Mitchell-Larrivee. Thanks also to Lauren Jarvie, Michaela Ryan, and Marama Bannister for their work contributing to this growth over the years.
Iin addition to two more competitive senior teams, we have an extra team in the Years 9 & 10 competition and an extra team in the Years 7 & 8 competition; a total of 15 teams for 2026. This is our largest number of teams for over a decade.
We have 14 young men playing in the 2026 competition, which follows on from three of our male players who were in the Otago rep team two years ago, and were coached by another of our parent coaches, Karin Fraser.
And finally, we want to acknowledge Feile Ryan, who has been selected in the U16 Otago team for 2026. Our players often avoid the trials, feeling that there is no place for them among some of the top-performing schools. We are thrilled that more of our players are confident enough to attend the trials, and now we can celebrate with Feile for her well-earned position in the team. She is part of our Senior A team who also includes Niamh Higgins, Paige Clark, Molly Kirk, Harper Bannister, Nina Hollis-Pye, Laura Tagg, Susana Mafi, and Lucy Bryant.
None of this is possible without the sponsorship we receive, in particular, LJ Hooker Dunedin and Reid Cooper Gray who sponsor both our junior and senior South Island tournaments. If any business would like to help sponsor this year's tournaments, please contact our business manager Bjarvie@trinity.school.nz or rmortimer@trinity.school.nz
