Much to Celebrate at the Netball Prizegiving

The captains of each team present a summary of their experience over the season and we take the time to celebrate the strengths of each team. We had six finals on the last Saturday with four first places. We had 6 Year 7 & 8 teams with a boys' team as well.

Our cup and trophy winners for 2026 were:

• Team Trophy - Senior B -The Senior B netball team is a deserving recipient due to their commitment and unwavering loyalty to one another throughout the season. From the outset, every player pledged total dedication to the group—cheering from the bench, giving 100% on the court, and constantly striving to improve for the benefit of their teammates. They played up a grade and then won it, and this was due to the positive culture built on trust where each member felt valued. They worked together towards a common goal, including consistent work on their fitness at conditioning as well as their support to each other on game days.

• Year 7 Most Dedicated Team Player- Addison Pleace- Addison has turned up to every practice this season ready to warm up and organise the team. She always has a positive attitude and is excited to learn new skills. She turns up to games on time every week and always plays her best. She interacts positively with her team on and off court and is always polite and respectful to her opposition.

• Year 8 Most Dedicated Team Player- Xavier Ryan- Xavier is a really hard working player who has attended every game and training this season. He is always first at training and the first to put up his hand to help set up the netball equipment and poles He comes with a great attitudeand is such a great supporter on and off the court for his team. The boys wouldn't have had enough players to make a team if it hadn't been for his determination to make a team. He works so hard on the court for his team and has been really dedicated to netball and his team this year.

• Year 9 Most Committed Player- Heather Morrison- Heather has shown up to every practice early on a Friday morning, even during musical week. She plays any position with a smile and always give 100% at all games. She has played for a number of other teams so often played multiple games on a Saturday, which is impressive considering how far away she lives. She always makes the effort due to her love of netball.

• Year 10 Aspiring Player Award- Katia Walker -Katia has shown a consistent commitment to the team and to netball. She always turns up to training and demonstrates a high level of skill, with strong game awareness and the ability to make a real impact on court. She made the B Development team for U14 Otago. She is a selfless player who regularly puts the team and her teammates before herself. She is a strong and reliable player who contributes both on and off the court. Her positive attitude helps bring the team together, and she is someone the team can always rely on.

• Most Committed Senior Player- Maddy Muschamp-Maddy has shown outstanding commitment to both her own game and, importantly, to the team as a whole. As captain, she consistently led by example, always turning up to both fitness, practice and games ready to give her best, bringing positive energy and encouraging the same commitment from those around her. Maddy genuinely cared about making sure every player felt included, valued and connected, and took responsibility for helping create a positive team environment. On court, she worked incredibly hard, competed for every ball and could always be relied upon when the team needed her. Her commitment, leadership and willingness to give so much of herself to the team throughout the season makse her an excellent candidate for this award.

• Outstanding Member of the Team - Player of the Season- Molly Kirk Molly has been captaiin of the Senior A team again, and she has shown outstanding leadership through her commitment to fitness, her attitude to training and her continued determination to always be at her best on game day. She would be swapped between WA, C and WD, often within a game and she just got on the court and made all positions her own. Her presence on the court was the glue needed to bring the ball through the court. She never gives up and has been a great role model for all five years of being in a South Island tournament.

• Service to Trinity Catholic Netball Award - Ella Carruthers Ella has played for Trinity for five years. She has filled in, or sat on the bench for other teams. She has been in the Junior A and more recently in the Senior B team. She has coached junior teams for the last two years and umpired on a Thursday as well.
