Junior Hip Hop Duo STATIC

Following their participation in the Otago/Southland NZ Schools Hip Hop regional competition in July, Trinity’s junior duo STATIC - made up of Year 9 students Sierra Read and Alice Connelly - decided that they would like to enter some more competitions to gain further experience, keep learning, and challenge themselves.

So, Sierra and Alice entered IMPACT and Velocity - and qualified for the nationals in both competitions.

This meant a trip to Wellington (IMPACT) and Auckland (Velocity) during the recent school holidays. The girls represented Trinity at both of these events - and performed incredibly well.

At the IMPACT Nationals in September, STATIC came 2nd in their age-group section with an Excellence Award. They also got a special shoutout for how much progress they’d made between Regionals and Nationals which was awesome.

Then, at the Velocity Finals at the beginning of October, STATIC came 4th also receiving an honorable mention and a high gold award.

Congratulations, Sierra and Alice - we’re all very proud of your achievements and your commitment to hip hop.
