Last week Trinity Catholic College presented its 2026 musical “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” with a near sellout season (every seat apart from three on opening night were sold) which was incredible!!

A huge thank you to everyone - students, staff, parents, ex-students, and other adult volunteers - who contributed to the show in some way and helped make it the amazing success it was. We had an absolutely awesome cast, crew, band, and production team who all gave so much of their time, energy, and expertise to make this such a magical show.

Our sincere thanks to the following individuals, businesses, organisations, and schools that supported the musical by donating goods or services, providing assistance/discounts, or lending us items:

- Ben Thomas

- Bennett School of Ballet & Jazz

- Core Development

- Musical Theatre Dunedin

- Southern Lights & Services

- St Hilda’s Collegiate School

- Tansley Electrical

We must also thank our incredible audiences for joining us on this undersea adventure - your support, enthusiasm, and enjoyment made all the hard work so totally worthwhile. We absolutely loved seeing some of the younger audience members coming along dressed as mermaids or bringing their mermaid dolls with them.

There were over 120 students involved with “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” both on and off the stage and what a wonderful group of rangatahi they are. I would like to acknowledge all the time they spent making this show the very best it could be and to thank them for sharing their talents with all of us and working together so well and supporting each other.

Hope to see you all at next year’s musical and in the meantime remember these wise words from Scuttle, the seagull:

‘Cause though I lack an awful lot

There is one thing I got —

I got positoovity!

I got positoovity!

It gives me the zam and the zow and the yodda-lodda-loddle

That’s why I walk with a wiggle in my waddle!

‘Cause once you’ve heard that word

There ain’t nothin’ you can’t do!

So let that positoovity work for you!
