“Achieved” in all sections of the end of year exam and/or 60% of all other assessments completed throughout Year 10.

Course Outline
The course is a mixture of internal and external standards that prepare the student for Level Two Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Earth & Space Science.
Contexts:
Use microscopes to determine cellular detail, and make detailed biological .drawings in plant and unicellular organisms
Explain how interactions between the Sun, Earth and Moon cause cucles on Earth.
Explain how energy is transformed and transferred in systems like a thermos, electrical circuits, and falling objects. Explanations will require written accounts, graphs, and the use of calculations.
Explain how and why atoms form ions
Carry out an investigation into precipitate reactions, research and write a report on the impact of ions to people or the environment

Internals
AS 91160- Investigate biological material at the microscope level. 3 credits
AS 91911- Carry out an investigation into chemical species present in a sample using qualitative analysis. 3 credits
Externals
AS 92047- Demonstrate understanding of energy in a physical system. 5 credits (This standard is used as a prerequisite for Level 2 Physics)
AS 92046 - Demonstrate understanding of the effect on the Earth of interactions between the Sun and the Earth-Moon system. 5 Credits
